  1. Yes I have done a Camp America and enjoyed it. But I have talked to others for who the experience was 9 weeks plain hard work.

I think it all depends on the people actually running the camp you are working at. My camp was well run and the idea was if the staff are happy then they will work to make the kids happy.

The food was plentiful if a little bland.

Accommodation comfortable, don't expect 5 star.

We had to put in 10 hour days for 5 days then do a night shift then get a day off.

Luckily I had an advanced first aid qualification so spent most of my time in the first aid hut.

Probably best if you can prove some coaching skills or something they need otherwise you spend a lot of the time trying to stop the little darlings murdering each other or hours trying to find Hank Jr's missing iPod, camera or favourite lucky sock.

While the kids are occupied they are generally easy to control but during free-time, and after lights out it can be difficult.

Camp America does give you the chance to travel in the States and my advice is to check out exactly where you want to go and how to get there and do it before you go. Your time at the camp will go quickly and you will have little time for travel research.
