Anyone here know how to do a twizzle?

I'm unclear on twizzles. Are they like a forward inside three-turn that just keeps going if you don't check it? We did them in class today, but it was right at the end of the class and I feel like I didn't quite get them. It felt like a backspin with just one revolution, but with the free foot at the ankle. Is it supposed to be more like an edge-to-edge turn or a spin on your sweet spot?

Class is a week away and I want to practice in between, but I don't want to work up the wrong way, KWIM?

  1. Its not like a backspin but more like forward inside 3-turns with your foot at your ankle.  Try not to spin in one place. The purpose of twizzles is not to be most like a backspin its a "Traveling inside backspin" thats how my coach explained it to me..  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚™Â¥

  2. Well, a twizzle is just like a back spin, but going one revolution, and having your foot attached to your ankle (no higher). Sometimes it helps to keep your hands on your hips, but I don't want to mess you up.

It's like doing a forward three-turn into a backwards three-turn, but no putting your foot down, and it's very quick. Try starting out just doing a single (one revolution), then when you became familiar with the move, your can start dong a double, triple, quadruple, etc.

I hope these tips help. Ask your teacher for more though. I'm sure she can help also!

    Good Luck!

  3. A twizzle is a multirotational one-foot turn.

A twizzle differs from a figure skating spin in that it travels across the ice instead of being centered in one spot. It also differs from a series of three turns in that the turning action is continuous.

Twizzles can be performed both forward and backward, on both inside and outside edges, and both clockwise and counterclockwise. Twizzles are most commonly performed in an upright position with the free foot held close to the skating leg, but other variants are possible as well, such as a twizzle in a sit spin position.

  4. Yeah its pretty similar. Its just two three turns. forwards inside three turn, then backwards three turn. But they are flowing and that makes them similar to back spins. they are different, because twizzles travel, but back spins shouldnt. It is an edge to egdge turn, used mostly in footwork sequences.

So yah, you are probably doing them right!

  5. yeah twizzles are like back spins but you stroke forward first and then pretend that you are going to do a back scratch.it is hard the first time but then you will get used to it by practicing over and over until you can do turning at least 6 times like me.I just learned how to do it in my class about 2 months ago and now i an almost do it ten times around and i am only 12 years old

  6. nope you can buy them at the store though. They make your mouth go mmmmmmm!!!
