I am looking to study medicine abroad and if you can tell me your experience of these universities or any information please, are they good, is there over crowding and corruption like in public uni's? Because I have heard some horror stories about the public uni's for medicine.

thanks

  1. Horror stories you mentioned “partially” happens but what you are granted that you will get the grades you really deserve if you worked really hard for it. I mean maybe "some" (and only few some) might get grades higher than what they deserve. But this doesn’t mean that others students get lower than what they deserve

Such attitude you will find in private universities too. And could be worse.

Unfortunately it has become a social norm now!!!

    --------------------------------------...

    Governmental Universities VS private universities

The staff of Governmental University is considered the best.

1- Because simply all staff in private universities are employed in governmental universities and work in private universities as part-timers.

2- Also instructors and lecturer assistants are better from their peers in private universities as they earned the highest grades in their graduation year, and the one who followed are the one you will find in private universities.

However instructors and lecturer assistants in private universities are more available than their peers in governmental universities as they assigned to a system of office hours, which is not applied in governmental universities.

Staff hierarchy in governmental universities are more stable. However in private universities they are assigned due a contract. And thus most of the staff keep changing all the time

Only governmental universities (+AUC) are the only universities that provide post-graduate studies.  However private universities do not provide any post-graduate studies. And for this reason they are considered profit-organizations which contradicts the basic principles of universities as non-profit educational institutions.

Students attitude in governmental universities are more academically related more than their peers in private universities as "some" deal with it as a social club not an academic campus.

you have to be aware that big percentage of those who choose to go to private universities are choosing it  for the sake of student atmosphere more than the real academic benefit, and this is not very wrong by the way.

Most governmental universities lecture halls are over-crowded. But sections capacity satisfies the minimum requirements.

Governmental universities labs and section halls are considered well-organized, however they are not air-conditioned as those in private universities.

unlike government universities, Private universities provide student transfer programms.

Some fields are practiced academically well in private universities such as commerce, media, some engineering fields (such as architecture and computer sciences), linguistics.

On the other hand governmental universities are still pioneering medicine, pharmacy, dental health, engineering different fields, and political sciences.

For your particular case: I m not a doctor, but I think no private university has an academic hospital such as Kasr El Aini (Cairo University) or Ain Shams academic hospital, or Mansoura Academic Hospital. Which are all considered the best in the middle east and northern Africa and I think in Africa it self.

    --------------------------------------...

Finally through my own experience and others experiences, private universities vary a lot in their academic quality. so

Good private universities with good reputation:

AUC, Arabic Academy, MIU, MSA, International University of Masr for sciences and technology.

Universities that still didn’t graduate any students yet, so their reputation are still not recognized:

German University, French University, British University, Malaysian University

    Private universities to avoid:

Modern Academy, Teba Academy, 6th October University, Future University, there is a number of other universities I don’t know and hear about them from time to time like Sina univ. so avoid them,
