Just curious. I'm thinking about using two overgrips instead of a replacement grip because I want my grip size to be a tad smaller. Does it wear out quicker?

  1. no this is fine.  but it might not be as comfortable b/c the replacement grip has more cushion.  the next time you purchase a racket  you might want to get one with a smaller handle.

it won't wear out your grip any faster.

  2. I agree  with Hugo ... I tried it ... and it SUCKED ....

You can buy lower profile replacement grips ....

    Good luck

  3. Take the racket to a pro, he could probably modify the grip to get it to the size you want.  I wouldn't use the overgrips, they'd slip and wear out way too quickly.

  4. If you're talking about removing the replacement grip and just using the overgrips that's not a good idea.

Yes they will wear faster but more importantly replacement grips are tacked on and attached with an adhesive to keep from moving. There's not enough tackiness on the overgrips to safely keep it in place on the plastic handle. You'll also transfer an unusually large amount of shock into your hands and arms. The bevels on the racquet will lay closer to the tendons of your hand which is not a good idea.

Find a smaller replacement and add 1 over grip. If that is still too big then have a new handle put on from a racquet service shop or order a new racquet.
