  1. Freecycle is NOT a part of Yahoo. Each Freecycle association/group is independently run. There are freecycle groups all over the world. They have no formal association with each other. Some Freecycle networks use YahooGroups, others do not.

Freecycle is no more dangerous than having a garage sale or selling something on eBay or posting something to CraigsList.

If you type in "Freecycle" into http://www.google.com, you will get an endless number of links to various freecycle efforts all over the country.

Many people blog about their experience with a particular freecycle group, so typing in the specific name of the freecycle group you are investigating, or typing in the word "freecycle" and the name of the city where the group is you want to research, should turn up not only the official site of that freecycle group, but also any online comments that have been made about such.

So, with all that said, WHICH freecycle group are you interested in?

  2. I Freecycle. Yes, it's a Yahoo Group. I have a Yahoo Group for my city and Yahoo Groups cover a wide variety of topics.

I mostly give away. It costs just the gas to pick it up. I usually meet people at a designated place for safety. X-husband freaked when I was bringing strangers here all the time. Strange, he's the one that ended up s******g with me.

I did receive a Duncan-Phyfe drop-leaf table in perfect condition once. Wow! I almost fainted.

Mostly wonderful and generous ppl. You'll have a great time. But do be careful.

    Cheers!

  3. I have a relative that does this and she thinks it is a wonderful program.

  4. oh i use it all the time. the guidelines clearly state you can't ask for money for anything you post.

i am using it before i move to a new home to get rid of clutter and things i don't want to move.

i have also used it to get things i need... clothing for my fiances daughter- i got 6 garbage bags full of stuff for her- sent her winter stuff and kept the summer stuff for her upcoming visit

oh i got a free upright freezer this week too!

it's a great idea and so handy!! keeps things out of dumps and i'm a firm beliver in paying things forward!!

i have recommended it to many of my friends and they are reaping the rewards

  5. Yes....I have had great success with it....they want to approve your email acct before you are 'enrolled'....just like most sites...to keep down on spammers.....

Just make sure you offer your stuff first. If you don't feel comfortable giving out your home # give out your work number. I put my email, and the first to respond wins...and comes to pick up....very easy and free!!
