I'm considering getting Option 1, but what's all this about the phone?

As I undersand it, you get the wired router, and up to 8GB download speeds and all of the Digital Vault, and also another phoneline?

Do I need a special phone to connect it to the internet?

Help!!

  1. no dont get it

  2. i'm using option 1, don't know anything about "another" phoneline. i'm connected through my normal landline.

  3. To be honest you are asking the wrong people - talk to the Bt people. I'm on BT Broad band and have been for the last 15 months or so, they are very helpful.

  4. im on it. i started off with option 3 so got a wireless hub with it. theres a slot for the internet phone to go in but i hardly used it, to be honest i,ve had nothing but trouble with b.t & wouldn,t recommend them to anyone

  5. You can get another number. I can get three incoming calls on three separate hub phones. It's like having three separate phones lines. If someone rings in on my analogue line it gets routed through my hub phone. If a second call comes in on my analogue line its gets routed via the broadband to my second hub phone. Also as I have mentioned you get a second number. If someone rings through on this it gets routed to my third hub phone. Its great if you have a family. Also you can connect Bt Vision. Bt vision plays films & Tv down the broadband. But you need at least 2Mg download speed for it to work.

  6. No you don't need a special phone, just an additional phone which plugs into the back of the wireless router...you don't have to have a wireless computer, its the same router, don't rely on the download speed, mine is nothing like the one advertised. I do use digital vault....all in all I was quite happy with BT. You get free evening and weekend calls on the additional phone.

  7. You get a broadband phoneline, so you don't need your regular one.  Calls are free evenings and weekends.  Funky phone too

  8. You don't need a new phone line. Just get the router plugged in, and the other phone (its free at evenings and weekends) into the router. The digital vault means that you can store data online. You don't need a special phone, but you need the filters that come with the router. they plug into the normal phone socket, and and then the normal phone plugs into that. The filter blocks out other noise form the broadband. It is quite simple to set up really.

  9. you get a free internet phone which you can use to call other people who have an internet phone for free

you just plug it in to your pc connections

    hope this helps

  10. I don't know why you get the extra phone line, I went and bought an extra phone to plug into it but I never use it.  Any old phone will do.

The idea is you can use it for free weekend/evening calls I think, and I suppose two of you could make / receive calls at the same time if you were so inclined

    Hope this helps
