Anyone here who agrees that the old/80's music era is much better than today's c**p?

I'm so sick of turning on the radio whenever and just hearing rap about hoes/cash/weed.

I'm always wondering what happened to making good music like in 80's? It's very rare these days that I hear a song that's good and nice to listen to and that I like.

Anyone else here agree?

  1. today there's some good songs but a lot are c**p

    but i love 80's music

even though i wasn't born then

  2. 100% totally completely absolutely agree!!!! But, some of today's songs are great too. So, it depends.

  3. I totally agree ! Todays music isn't music at all It's just noise.  And to go a step further, 70's music is awesome too. (My parents are old hippies.)

  4. There is nothing better than 80's music. It is my dad's fault. He is a major Starship fan and I am too by default though I wouldn't change it.

  5. Yes! I completely agree with you! Although I was born in 1988 I truly love songs of the era when I wasn't even exist in this world!

  6. The 80's music was the best. Hands down.

  7. yes me too

that good ol' rock and roll! just soothes the soul!!!!!

  8. I agree!! Music now seems to be churned out by money-hungry companies, no thought given to the actual art of music.

  9. Having graduated HS in the 80's I totally agree. But then again Im OLD and dont listen to a lot of today's music unless at a dance club..and I hate the music that goes on and on and no words. Where's the fun in dancing if you don't know the words.

  10. Your preaching to the choir here! Most of the music I listen to on websites like Last.fm are usually from around the 80s. To me the 60s-80s were a great time for music, the 90s started slacking a bit. Today its all about looks and money, not actual talent. But of course thats just my opinion.

  11. h**l yea! ive decided to just revert to listening to older music instead of having to cring as i listen to da S**t of dis decade

  12. Yes, I agree. I miss those beautiful songs. Modern music is a s.hit!

  13. I was just thinking about this yesterday!  How much I miss the music of the 1980s.  That was back when I was in junior high and high school, and the music was definitely more fun than it is today.

  14. I agree 110%!!

  15. Totally..

However there still SOME nice Pop music around..

However, I stll love oldies and music from the 80's.

    It just rock big time...

  16. I enjoy a wide range of music from the 1950's to today. But, just for fun, here's a band that lives near me.

  17. Totally!!! My ipod is full of 80's music.

  18. I like loads of music that present day and present day music is better then ever but stuff like your example has been ever since the 80's bit not so many will recall

the link is for an 80's group so people should approve unless they take their rose-tinted glasses off

for many groups/artists/fans s*x sells and derogatory terms whilst offensive don't bother everyone

  19. LOL!!!

I was thinking the very same thing just today when I was driving home from work, listening to the radio.  However, I would go farther back than the 1980's and include the late 1960's forward through the 1980's.

  20. Well, I'm glad to know that other people think that way.

I was thinking I am the only old fashioned teen! lol

Yes, I still listen to those songs...they had real meanings and the feel which the modern music kinda don't have.

    For example, Eva Cassidy!

I admire her and her songs...her songs :Autumn Leaves, I Know You By Heart, Over The Rainbow, Fields of Gold and Imagine are popular among this generation, but these songs still have the taste of the golden old fashioned songs.

Even Lulu's To Sir With Love is beautiful.

In fact, the ancient music were much better...at least they didn't give the people a headache like these modern Rap/Rock does.

In fact, I am listening To Eva Cassidy's Fields of Gold right now, and I love the feeling.

The old fashioned song makes more sense than the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus do.

However, I do agree that there are some really good modern Pop music around....for example, The Backstreet Boys....Whitney Houston.....Tammin Sursok.....Celine Dion.....etc

    *Best Wishes*

  21. I was a teenager in the 80's and I remember sneaking a radio into school so me and my friends could listen to the Top 40.  I agree that 80's music is better than today's, but I admit I have a liking for modern trance.  Rap is just vile.  I always feel it should be spelled and pronounced with a C in front of the R.

  22. If you're talking about Pop/Rock/Top40 then yes...it was definitely better then.  (And since you're talking about the radio, then I'm assuming you're talking about Pop.)

However, other than Pop, it's not necessarily true.  For instance, today's Techno/House/Trance/Dance music is much better than back then.

  23. Not everything is c**p but I do agree that I don't want to turn on the radio and hear how "phat" that b!tches a** is. I hardly bother with the radio anymore, I just burn my own CDs. It saves me the frustration of choosing between listening to how much cash someone has or why girls are such whores. hahahaa

***** No offense to anyone who listens to music that sounds like I described, I'm merely sharing my opinion *******

  24. The 60s music was ok. The 70s music was ok. The 80s music, at least at the beginning, was ok. Some 90s music was ok. The problem with today's music as a whole is not that there aren't any more musicians, simply that the industry took over their lives and everyone's lives. So, what you listen to these days is artistically as valid as a coke can.

  25. I like lots of music, including the 80s, but I can't stand most of what they are putting out today.  Today's musicians generally can't actually perform live, everything is computer generated with studio musicians filling in the gaps.

    Or, I'm just getting old.

One thing that I do like is some of the unsigned bands and performers on Youtube/Myspace.

  26. Not all of todays music is c**p, but most of it is! :P

    i completely agree, though

the best music came from the 80's!! XD

  27. I agree totally. What happened to songs with real meaning, touched your heart or had words you could actually understand. I heard a song the other day, two verses exactly the same and a hook that made absolutely not sense. Bring back real music.

  28. I  sooo agree with you. Like you, I'm sick of those kinds of music you mentioned. So what I did was I downloaded songs from the 80s from www.mp3raid.com. Believe it or nor, i downloaded about 500 songs. Then I burned them on CDs. Now, I have enough song to listen to. I don't have to turn on the radio with all that noise!!! You can do the same. Good luck and happy listening.

  29. I too agree ! A lot of the "music" on the radio (rap, etc.) doesn't make any sense and it certainly didn't come from it's origins.

Also another thing that burns me is when the kiddies of today listen to a song and claim it to be a song of their own. If they try reading the copyright or the author(s), they might find that the song was a hit record some 10 - 30 years earlier.

  30. ok, well, not *everything* the 80s turned up was amazing...but i will confess there is a larger amount of older (60s-80s) stuff on my ipod than more recent (90s-2000s) - i inherited my parents' music taste. a whole lot of recent stuff is junk. the exception is metal, and even some of that, i realise, is a few years old.

    ^^

edit: yeah, i agree the charts are full of pop and rap, which all sucks. but there is good ravey stuff, and the metal isn't bad. i have yet to find a radio station for that though...and if anyone gets the chance to prevent Scouting for Girls releasing another song, they have my full support!

  31. Almost any Music in the last 50 years beats the trash they call music now. I love most the music from the 40's,50's and 60's as they sing about broken hearts and love and some times just plain silliness. Not this anti what ever c**p they call hip hop and rap.Never made sense to me why a person has to throw in all the trash talk they do now and then these people wonder why there hooked on drugs and in Jail....
