  1. Newry is in Northern Ireland and is part of the UK - to say that it is 'under British rule' is wrong. Nowhere in Northern Ireland is 'under' anything it is merely part of the UK system. It is not some sort of colony for goodness sake.

The MPs do not swear allegiance to the 'Queen of England' - that would put them under 'English rule' - not British. The Queen is the Queen of the United Kingdom and head of state and the MP's swear allegiance to her government and the state, i.e. the government of the United Kingdom, of which Northern Ireland is a part.

It's a very busy town on the border of the two countries.

  2. Newry was at the heart of the pIRA resistance.  It is featured prominently in the book, Bandit Country.

  3. Try http://www.ulsterancestry.com - you might be able to get some details on your Fathers family on the forums or on the Free research Report.

  4. newry is in northern ireland so i don't know too much about it, it is still under british rule, i believe it reached city status a few years back and has a nice shopping center (mall) but thats all i know sorry

Killarney is located in county Kerry in the republic of Ireland, the celtic tiger was very good to killarney and today it is one of the most visited towns in ireland.  Tourism is the number one industry in killarney and during the summer the crowds flock to killarney for the wonderful nearby scenery of killarney national park and the ring of kerry.  the nightlife in town in first class but the town itself has become expensive for things like accommodation
