I am considering homeschooling my oldest daughter. Anyone have any info about where I could find cheap/free lesson plans?

  1. Hello and welcome.

Here is an excellent website to get you started:  http://www.homefires.com/

  2. What age/grade level are you interested in?

There are lots of websites with free lesson plans, but they are usually for individual lessons.

You might want to look at www.worldbook.com for their typical course of study listings to get an idea of the sorts of things that children at her level usually learn.  That could give her a start on knowing the sorts of lessons to try with her.

Or you might want to check out the local public library.  We found lots of great books on homeschooling in ours.  Some actually have lesson plans and ideas in them, while others are more general.

    Good luck.

  3. connections academy is a FREE online PUBLIC school. you have teachers, and books, and field trips and its all free. they also learn quicker and learn more than regular schools, and you dont have the pain of having to wake up early, and you meet friends on the field trips they have. you also get a lot of free books and if you ont own a computer, they give you one, but you have to send it all back at the end of the year so you can get new stuff for the next grade if you plan to stay with it. hope this helps!

  4. I know this sounds really corny, but there are a lot of lesson plan at public libraries.  Where i live  there are books with lessons in them for each individual grade. I would think that would help for starters. I would start with some of the best resources and go from there.

  5. $195 for 12+ years of education --- 22 computer cd's of printable material -- (instructions and reading books.)

  6. well here's what i got homeschooled on & IF i had a kid i'd use the same.

its a chirstian one though so i dunno if you're into that. also its a sunday-keeping one not a sabbath (saturday) one...im jewish btw. but that was a minor detail & it worked just fine. i just put "sabbath-school" instead of "sunday-school" lol

  7. Try unschooling, it can be as cheap as you want and works wonders :D
