Question:

Anyone in Alberta/Calgary know what to charge for 'before and afterschool' care?

I am interested in doing 'before and after school'. The school is a minute away or less (right in front of my house).

Currently I clean houses..but the cost of gas is killing me.

Is it worth to switch over to doing this kind of child care?

What should I charge to make it worth while? (moneywise)

I have 2 boys going to the school, and would love to be a part of community and help out families who need it.

any thoughts?

thanks,

:)

  1. The rates for before and after school care in Calgary begin at about 265/month and can go up to 510/month.

There are a number of tax benefits to providing care in your home and you would want to talk to someone for advice on this.  I know people who write of a percentage of their energy bills, mortgage, food costs, toys and books, cable/sat etc...

  2. here's something that might help you, wouldn't hurt to just call a couple places and see what they charge (might mean posing as a mother with a child).  It's probably the easiest way to get rates and an idea of the costs.

You will be required to get a special liscence but that information is in the link I'm providing:
