I will be moving to Languedoc in about a year, and wonder if there is anything in particular I should know abotu the place. Is it true there are no cars allowed in the city of Montpellier?

  1. They're doing a load of work on the city centre, reworking all the traffic system. Large areas are being pedestrianised as a result.

It's a really nice city, and after Paris (where I live) it seems so friendly and open. The whole region is beautiful and there are lots of places to go and see within an hour or two. The beaches are close and very good, the airport is small enough to make air travel less hassle than usual and there are lots of nice small villages and towns outside Montpellier if you don't fancy living in the city itself.

If you have to move to France, there aren't many nicer places to go.

  2. Here's a site that can help:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montpellier

I read the information and it says it is run by TGV trains, so I guess that's a no.
