Anyone in the Coast Guard Reserves?

I'm a 27 year old female and am thinking about joining the Coast Guard Reserves. What do they have to do on their drill weekends? The main thing for me is that I want to travel. Is traveling a posibility, or would it all be at home type stuff? I was active duty in the Navy for five years as an Operations Specialist and I really miss being out on the water. Any info would be helpfull.

  1. I'm in the USCG (Aux). You can stay near home, or travel if you like (most expenses are paid), The USCG (Aux) does EVERY function that the USCG does EXCEPT "Law Enforcement", & "Direct Combat Operations", sounds like "S.A.R", or "CREW" or "Coxswain" would be perfect for YOU ! It's easy, one or two meetings per month, lots of fun if you like boats and the water, if you don't own a boat but, love going out on the water, this is the place for you.

  2. Check the USCG web-site or visit your nearest gc station or recruiter.  They are quite active in the FL keys for search and rescue and some drug interdiction.  With the shortages you would be welcomed I am sure.
