  1. Not to shame Force Recon but most Marine student don't pass Ranger School, and to consider Marine infantry equal to the Rangers is ridiclous. Rangers are the BEST no jarhead can compare

Marines have MARSOC which is more like Special Forces.

speaking of Dog have you tried out for MARSOC

  2. Hold on now (to the guy who answered above me)...Force Recon is infantry!!  Why do you think that Marine Recon contains the MOS 0321...0300 is the MOS field of Infantry!  And I been to Ranger School, that is because I chose to stay for my second rotation.  Force Recon isn't a lateral move necessarily, as the Division's Recon units.  After our 3 year committment in the 'Company' we can either choose to go back to our original unit or stay within Force Recon., which 80-percent stay!  However, Force Recon gains the extra incentative as MOS 8654 (Parachutist and combatant diver).  However, MOS 8654 doesn't mean that is a Force Recon MOS, that means that we are an 0321 with 8654 qualifications.  Marine Infantry are different from the Army's variation because we are an expeditionary force with our natural habitat of the sea and land, we are amphibious.  The MOS 0300s-Infantry consists of different jobs, mortarmen, machinegunners, and rifleman.

However, you should not be confused with Division-level Recon Battalions and the Fleet Marine Force Reconnaissance Companies.  They are totally different units, read my wiki site I posted!!  I worked hard to untarnish my group!  Very rarely for Division Recon to send Marines to Ranger School, but the Force Recon however sends us to the school after we have been through the pipeline and have already gained the qualification of "Special Operations Capable" when we required to attach to a MEU in our initial phases.  Those who go for another rotation will attend more advanced schools, like Ranger School and Jumpmaster school at Fort Benning.  Even tryout for divemaster in Pensacola.

The only reason Marines will go to Ranger School and many, many other schools within the Army because there isn't enough money to accomodate a facility for the Marines on our own 'stomping ground'.  Why do you think that the USAF and some Army units attend schools at the Navy's Salvage and Diving Training Center to obtain SCUBA qualification?  The United States doesn't have money to throw around to build schools and train extra instructors; if it's already in existence, they will be catered to all services of the Armed Forces!

Check out my wiki article that I have been working on this past year...

And Call of Duty 4 isn't the real Force Recon...No officers go out with the teams, it is strictly SNCOs and NCOs.  The officers stay back with the S-2/S-3 and conduct the operations/missions via communications!

NOTE:  I sure wish that people who never served in FORECON answers questions as if they know all about us...that irritates me!

  3. COD is not the marine corp just a game.  infantry is infantry in the marines with the exception of force recon which your right is not like the game.  Marines can qual in jumps and dives like rangers but it would be very rare (if ever) for a marine to go to ranger school (frankly no marine would want or need to)  the marine corp infantry considers itself (and they are right) on par with specialized army units.  they fulfill a different mission is is why they exist.

  4. The Marines have Force Recon... If you're in Force Recon you can go through every other branches Special Forces school (including Ranger school).
