Downtown Santiago is old and crowded, obviously there are hotels inside the downtown, the famous CARRERA HOTEL and so many other new ones

Keep in mind that Santiago has a efficient Subway system (El Metro) and even if you stay at the Providencia neighborhood, wich is much nicer than Downtown, you are just 15 minutes away from Downtown and don't need a car.
