Question:

Anyone know a good recipe for *soft* choc. chip cookies?

I tried this recipe I found today, and although the cookies taste great, I prefer a softer, somewhat chewy cookie...Here is the recipe I used;

Preheat oven to 375. Combine 2 1/4c flour, 1 tsp baking soda & 1/2 tsp salt. In a seperate bowl, cream 1c butter, 1/2 c sugar & 3/4c brown sugar until fluffy. Add 2 tsp vanilla and 1 egg - beat well. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture....Add chocolate chips. Bake 10 - 15 minutes.

I made them the size that the recipe called for, and I timed them at about 10 minutes to bake. However, it seemed to me that the outer part of them baked much quicker than the inside, therefore giving them somewhat of a hard "outer shell".

Is there any way to modify this recipe to make them softer? Does anyone have another great chocolate chip recipe to share? I'd love to try it! :)

  6. Use the same recipe, but substitute buttery Crisco for the butter.  Butter makes the cookies spread more and they're harder.  Crisco makes a softer, less-spread cookie.....
