  1. Sorry, dont know of any home remedies, but you can purchase a jar of poison for fairly cheap at most retail stores.  The jar has little slits in it, the fruit flies fly into it and die.  It works really well and does not more than $5.

  2. Keep fresh produce covered.  Fruit flies arrive on the produce and it all should be rinsed thoroughly when you get it home.

They can't survive if they can't eat.  Cover their food source and they die out within days.

  3. Once fruit flies have gained entry into your home ( usually from the supermarket) they will most often live in your sink drains. Find where they're concentrated and what they are feeding on. Remove the food source. Make sure you take the food out of the house! Do not leave it in the garbage pail inside the home. The best and fastest remedy is to make a bleach and water mixture, then pour it down the OVERFLOW  drain towards the top of the sinks. This is where they will be, not in the drain at the bottom of sink. Repeat this on a daily basis until they are gone. It will work. Treat all drains even in bathrooms whether you see them or not.

  4. Open a beer or leave out some cider vinegar.  The idea is that they will be attracted and crawl in to thier death. Beer works the best because they love it. Next try to clean out your drain or garbage disposal.

Pack your drains with salt and baking soda, then add a tablespoon of vinegar. When it fizzes just pour in hot water. This will clean a drain for disposal of any tidbits that may feed them or contain eggs.

Spray your garbage cans or refuse containers with vinegar or a cleaning product to keep them from feeding there or multipling.

You really shouldn't see any fruit flies after this.
