Question:

Anyone know a site where I can get an unbiased truth about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

Every site I go to that claims to tell the "truth" about the ongoing conflict is either pro-Isreali or pro-Palestinian. I want to know what is really going on over there. I understand that both sides have needless suffering going on but every site claims they are the ones suffering and it's all the evil Israeli's or Palestinians fault. I was hoping someone knew of an objective site that gives both sides of the story free from bias.

  1. No one wants to face the truth. Thousands of years ago, both sides claim that God told them , "This Land is yours",  and they have been fighting ever since.

  2. There are simply too many variables. The information presented is usually the 'information' they have, or the selection they want to present. Either you are pro, against or neutral - ultimately your objective is to portray a specific message.

It's like a jigsaw you need all the pieces to complete the jigsaw. Each site presents only number of facts, what you really need is all the available facts, so you can reach a conclusion. The only way you can is to go through all the available data and analyze it from neutral perspective.

Other than that you're going to have go through academic literature, academic perspective. That is simply not available on the websites for various reasons. Of course you're still going to have to go through quite a few books. :-)

Alternatively go through all the available info and make up your own mind.

In essence there is no neutral website, even if it is balanced, it is limited as it can only provide certain amount of information.

  3. Herkk makes sense.  Since this is a VERY charged issue, it is very difficult to find objective information and to sift through it to seperate the bias from the facts when you do.  I've studied the conflict for 8 years and have had to go through numerous resources before getting an idea of what actually went down over there over the past 10,000 years.

Basically, it is an excercise in critical thinking.  Be professionally skeptical of everything you see and be sure to seek corroboration about specific issues and histories.  Objective evidence is important as well as which details differ the most.

Bottom line, there is no easy answer.
