Anyone know about Cohiba Cigars?

I bought these while on vacation in the Dominican Rep. They werent expensive, only 15 dollars.

Are these the famous fidel castro cigars? or are they a cheaper version of those?

Bought in the DR ,  chances they are counterfeit cigars. The Cohiba is the most imitated cigar in the world, because they are still among the best and the most expensive. The magazine Cigar Aficionado rates the COHIBA Lancero with a  92/100 as the best Cuban cigar retail price: 18.50 Pound Sterling each. In Cuba , Cohiba is a general brandname , there are several types of Cohiba depending on size and tabacco blend.

Cohiba behike  etc.

The real Cohiba has a fermentation of 18 months and is ready for tasting after 3 years , that's the difference between the phony cigars and the real thing. I have smoked many imitations bought on the streets for 2-3 dollar each , there are good cigars amongst them but you can't compare them to the real thing it's a big difference , the real ones are very mild.

It's the same as the difference between a cheap street rum and a Havana Club barrel proof 15 years.

PS. Note that every detail is been forged. The logos on the boxes, the certificates even the hologram on the boxes are

counterfeits. This is big business there are circulating more phonies than real ones !!!

These are Cuban Cigars but not the ones Fidel smokes. It's the same brand but there are many different sizes of Cohiba Cigars.

Here's how you'll know what you purchased while in the DR...

**Edit: it seems that what you have is not the cheaper version....but this is only from the sites below that show what is sold in which countries. And the pictures show you how to tell if yours were counterfeit or not. The link you had showed it to 'seem genuine'...If you bought them from a store in a resort, maybe they were genuine. Check your packages and compare.

It depends if they're the Cuban or Dominican brands. When Castro came to power and nationalized land in Cuba alot of cigar makers fled to the Dominican Republic, Honduras and other places to continue making their own cigars. Both Cuban and Dominican cigars are considered the best, but Cuban ones give a more rich smell and taste.

$15 is the average price you pay per Cohiba cigar. Check your box and see where it came from. Habanos SA are the Cuban brand. General Cigar is the Dominican brand.
