Anyone know about Cuernavaca, Mexico?

I am considering taking a Spanish course in Mexico. It is located in a town called Cuernavaca. Does anyone know anything about it? What type of place is it? Are there many young people living there? Is it safe? That type of thing. Oh, and are the men good-looking?!? Thanks!!!

Cuernavaca is called the city of eternal spring, ciudad de eterna primavera. It has a nice waterfall (sal san anton) and is very safe. The temp is always nice. There is not much nightlife but mexico city is a short bus ride away and the coast is all that far. Its a beautiful little city.I believe it is where Hernan Cortes lived. he's mexicos columbus.

Cuernavaca is a great place for the course you will be taking. I have friends who have taken intense total immersion courses there. It is between 50 and 100 miles from Mexico City, at a lower altitude so the climate is nearly tropical.

Because of the climate the locals call it the City of Eternal Spring. Cuernavaca has been a weekend get away spot since the Aztec emperors. Now the wealthy and upper middleclass in Mexico City have weekend homes in the area. Many foreign embassies and companies send their employees to Cuernavaca for R&R.

There are many young people from all over the world especially in tourist season and weekends. Whether you consider the men goodlooking is up to your criteria, but as I said you will see people from all over the world.

We went to a wedding there in September. It was lovely.

I would add that you must take sensible precautions, as in any city. Go out in group, do not drink too much at bars, do not wear too revealing clothes in the street, and take taxis only from their bases ("sitio de taxis").

There are a lot of nice places near Cuernavaca, Tepoztlán is a beautiful pueblo nearby. And there are a couple of malls and large cinema complexes, if you want some big city fun sometimes. And yes, Mexico city is one hour away in bus, so you can visit often.

Well the men in Gudalajara are better looking... Cuernavaca is very nice. Its a small city close to Mexico City.  I allways considered it in the Metropolitan area.  There is a beutifull lake there and great views.  Cuernavaca used to be known as a hippie town.  Dont know if still.  It is relatively safe for being so close to Mexico city.  A few years ago the Mexican Inteligence Bureu craked down a kidnapping gang from there, they were known for cutting the ears of the victims....  If you are not a millionaire that shows off or own a huge industry, you have nothing to worry about.
