My computer has a wireless connection and it was fine until last night. It wasnt working so I disconnected, then reconnected but now when I go onto the Net it looks for my homepage for a while before saying problem with DNS server settings. It does say connected though. Tiscali is the provider if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance!

  1. you may have to unplug your modem and router then wait like a min or two then plug them back in, that usually works for me

  2. it could be a problem with your ISP so you might want to contact them but before you do first unplug both your modem and your router if your using one then plug the modem in let it fully turn on the plug the router in then reboot your PC if you get the same message contact your ISP and they can tell you if its a problem on their end. they can also test you modem from their side to see if its an issue with it.

  3. I JUST HAD THIS!

I found that the problem was that Norton Firewall was blocking the port settings for the router on my wireless set up!

Try turning off your antivirus settings or changing them to allow your ports to activate the FTP DNS and HTTP stuff! its like ports 20 etc theres 3 main ports i found!

    Good luck!

Believe me its a mish mash to look at but dont get too invoved with setting ISP ports and things...just try uninstalling or changing your security settings then try again!

Oh yeah.....make sure that you only manage your wireless set up with one programme...your wireless adapter should have basic manufactureres settings to get you on with set upo..but i just make sure that windows manages the set up....you can do this by viewing wirless connections and changing the advanced setting and clicking the button which says "Allow windows to manage this wireless network"

Confusion between the wireless router and wireless adaptor can play havok with connections!
