  1. You are in luck! Luzern (or Lucerne) is a very pretty city. Weather is strange these days. It can be cool one day and warm the next. Prepare for cool weather around 50 F (10 C) and windy and you will probably be ok. Rain is possible so prepare for that too by taking an umbrella or water-proof jacket.

How far from the airport depends on which airport you are flying into. I assume you are flying into Zurich airport. From there it will be under 1.5 hours by train to the Luzern train station. Alternatively if you fly to Geneva it will be about 2 hours.

I think you can spend at least 1-2 days enjoying this pretty city.  Then by all means go up one of the two famous mountains in the area Platus or Rigi. From there you will have an amazing view over the city of Luzern and the entire region. But be prepared it will be COLD and windy up there.

Then try a nice day trip. Zurich, for example, is only 1 hour away by train. It is the largest city in Switzerland. Or see somethig different and go to Lugano in the Italian part of Swizerland.

Have a look at the link below to read more about Luzern.

    Have fun!!

  2. Don't forget to visit the "Verkehrsmuseum".

  3. I visited Lucerne a few years ago, and be sure to buy Swiss chocolates there-it´s in a shop in town close to a bank-sorry, I don´t know the store name.  The wrapper has pictures of Switzerland on them, with the Swiss Red Flag with the cross inside-I don´t know what the name of this chocolate is, but here is what they look like...

We only shopped and went on the famous bridge during our 4 hour stay, but I do remember the scenery is breathtaking, and I keep urging my husband to take me back there.

    YOU`RE SO BLESSED_HAVE FUN!!!!

  4. Went many years ago. Very beautiful and picturesque. The Vierwaldstaetersee seems more beautiful than lake Geneva. It's all closed in with ze Alps! Take a cruise on the lake. Wander the town and the old wood bridge near the mouth of the lake. Go up to Pilatus, amazing views. I'm sure it will be cold. I went in June and it was freezing. Although I hear Swiss weather is so unpredictable sometimes
