Hola!  You are one of a zillion people who come down here for a holiday and want to make it permanent!  Present company included! lol  But working and holidaying is two completely different realities in Mexico!

Unless you own your  own company, or do real estate or timeshare, its really hard to find work down here without a fm3.  If you can find a company who will sponsor your application, then you should be fine.  The mexican government frowns upon gringos taking jobs from their people, so that is why its difficult to get jobs here.  Speaking spanish fluently ups your odds.  Having mexican national friends that have companies is even better.

My advice is to check the gringo gazette, they will often advertise the odd job (say property management).

Finding a job in Mexico is not impossible but it is difficult. The link  below will tell you what you need to know.I live in Mexico part of the year and have a small business there but I have partner who is also a citizen....Hope this helps.

Well, I know people in Mexico make like $20 a week. Not to sound ignorant, but it's true! I know people who live down there.
