Question:

Anyone know about muscles/nerves in the neck?

I have had bouts of one sided headaches for the last 6 months or so...ranging from mild to severe. Right now I'm in to day 12 of a constant/chronic mild headache.

I have had a CT scan and lumbar puncture and anything serious has been ruled out.

I'm a regular gym user and lift weights three times a week and the headache gets more intense when I lift.

I'm now convinced that the problem lay in the nerve/muscle cluster in my neck where it meets my skull. If I push in to this area firmly, my the pain becomes pretty intense....although not in the neck area...the pain intensifies up the right/backside of my head and across my right temple.

I'm a fit and otherwise health 27 y/o male.

Anyone have any ideas?

  1. Aw hun ouch !

You could be trapping a nerve, I think the place you're describing is known as the " Cleat " where your neck meets your skull. If there is a Physio at the gym you attend, it might be an idea to go ask him/her if there is anything you can do.

    Good Luck. X :-)

  2. Spasms in muscles in your neck and at the back of your head can cause these symptoms.  Try putting an icepack on your neck.  (15 minutes on, 5 minutes off, 10 minutes on).  If that eases it, go and see a chiropractor.
