  1. they can be REAL noisy. its rare for them to be talking, and its like having a macaw, but SMUSH into a tiny body. in other words, loud, messy, and sometimes agressive.( it depends on where you got it from.) they will ALWAYS want your attention. (at least!!) and theyre cute, if you train them t say things. you can teach it to be a loving. some of them are agressive, because theyve either been locked up in a cage at a pet store, or not raised right by the breeder.

SOO... this all depends on how they were raised. hope i helped. and if i didnt, ask the pet store you found it in. they SHOULD help. if they dont, DONT BUY IT FROM THERE. that means that they have not experiece. go to the pet store that aren't branded, (like petco. they have petstore all over the place...) usually, THEY raise the bird.

try kijiji.com. they sell birds REALLY cheap. i found a bird that was 2,000 dollars at the pet store, but on kijiji, the breeder was selling it for only 800 dollars. you can save money that way..

  2. I have a parrotlet he is 2 years old.  He rules our house.  They have the same personality as a Amazon.  He goes after my African Grey, he is fiesty.  We love him to death.  He talks but, it will take a lot of repeating the same phrase.  Took him about 2 weeks to say" I'm so cute".  He seems to pick up noises faster.  He makes the sound of a spray bottle, me turning the dial on my wash machine, noises like that.

They love to eat, always make sure the bowls are full.  He loves people food also chicken, potatoes, pizza, pork.  One thing for sure is that they are hard to catch being so tiny your afraid your going to hurt them because sometimes he just doesn't want to go to sleep.  They require cuttlebone at all times.  If he won't eat it scrape it onto the food.

Again, we love him to death.

  3. There's a great group on Yahoo Groups that can help you with all your parrotlet questions:  http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Parro...

Parrotlets are wonderful little birds.  They have all the intelligence and personality of the big parrots crammed into a tiny body.

Your best bet is to buy a hand-fed parrotlet that has been weaned to a good variety of foods and has been socialized by the breeder.  A bird that is hand-fed and simply plopped back into the brooder has not been socialized and will require more work than one that has been handled a lot by the breeder.

Parrotlets are physically incapable of screaming or removing body parts larger than a freckle.  They can chirp quite stridently when they want your attention but are generally considered "quiet" birds and suitable for apartment living.

For more information, I'd recommend the ParrotletsPlus Group.

  4. Hello.

Parrotlets are belonged to parrot 's family . They have all the qualities of a parrot , but they are the smallest one, that's why the name is Let ( mean petit >>> small ) I have bred them for more than 2 years, and I have 15 breeding pairs right now . They are not hard to breed for to have ...they are capable of talking , and yes, they are so cute ( that's why I decided to have 20 pairs at least ...lol...) You just have to give them seed ( they eat cockateils seed ) and fresh water . Though they are small , bu tthey eat a lot , so I keep changing their food ( give a new food ) constantly . They also eat brown bread , hard boiled eggs ( cut in half , serve shell and all , they love zupreem fruit snack ( for cockateils ) , brocoli head ...just give them a lot of time , love and you need to hold them every day to keep the boning, otherwise they become nippy and would bite you hard . In case you don't know any breeder  to buy from ( it is best to buy hand fed one ) please go to www.hoobly.com to find the breeder near you . Have fun ! TM.
