it is interesting that you mentioned the Jews being enslave, but if you look at history they were more like imprisoned not enslaved. the Jewish people were placed in concentration camps and tortured yet the could still draws from one another's strengths, where as when the africans were enslaved they could not gather nor could the draw on one another's strengths, oh, here is another little known history fact, the United States came to the rescue oe the Jewish, while African Americans are still wait to be rescued.

any opinions of this???

i was NOT the one who said this... i need some input though

  1. You should read the book of Exodus.

    Do you know what is commemorated during Passover?

    The Jews' liberation from slavery in Egypt.

    ======================

    The Jews have always defended human rights

    =========================

    "imprisoned not enslaved. the Jewish people were placed in concentration camps and tortured yet the could still draws from one another's strengths"

    Ehh? What do you mean ' draws from one another's strengths"?

    'the United States came to the rescue of the Jewish'

    NO. The US entered WWII after Pearl Harbot was attacked. And besides , the British were already fighting , so the US joined...

    They did NOT join the war to 'rescue the Jews'.

    Look , the purpose of slavery is cheap labor. The purpose of the Holocaust was MASS EXTERMINATION of the European Jewry.

    The things is , that Jews have been hated throughout history, and today they're still hated by many , and there are people out there who want all the Jews dead. Does that sound okay to you?

    ====================

    Look , I respect that fact that African Americans suffered. I am not into 'comparison of suffering' , but I can't believe you just attacked the Holocaust like that, saying it was nothing.

    Okay , you didn't say this but whoever said it is crazy.

    EDIT to Paperback: Every country refused to take them? You mean en masse? Are you sure? Actually , Malta was the only European country **not to even require Visas** for Jews fleeing Nazism during WWII. While the Soviet Union was the ONLY country in the world to OPENLY refuse to accept Jewish refugees , declaring that they were not suited to Socialist life. I don't know if other countries refused , but USSR was the only one that did it openly , officially.

  2. the authour is uneducated, unintelligent and has a very poor/odd outlook on things. He seems to have problems constructing simple sentences.

  3. Imprisoned?  Enslaved?

    The Jewish population of Europe wasn't imprisoned, or enslaved THEY WERE MURDERED.

    Sorry to shout, but it isn't a game of whose ancestors got it worse, slavery was abysmal, a disgrace and a blight on humanity - but it was not the industrial slaughter of millions.

    BTW the US did not come to the rescue - no-one did: the war was about fighting a land grabbing monster - not an anti-Semitic murderer.

    See:

    There is no doubt that murder is worse than slavery.

  4. The Americans did NOT 'come to the rescue' of the Jews in the death camps. In fact, any of the allies could have bombed the railway lines leading to the camps - but they chose not to.

    In addition, when the Jews were trying to flee Germany, at the start of the Holocaust, EVERY country refused to offer them sanctuary - America included. So whoever gave you that 'info' is sadly mistaken.

    And the Jews were not simply 'imprisoned'. That is utter drivel. The Jews were starved, buried alive, gassed, burned, experimented on, and torn apart by attack dogs. The Jewish children and pregnant women were subjected to experiments so grotesque that most adults can't even read the details without throwing up.

    It is not a competition. Jews and Blacks have both suffered terribly. There is no reason to compare misfortunes. But since the issue has been raised: the Holocaust was the almost successful extermination of all Jews. It killed HALF the Jews on this planet. Six million innocent women, children and men.

    Slavery was appalling and my goodness, yes, black people have suffered most terribly. But as slaves they were still entitled to food and fresh air and they were LIVING, albeit unhappily. This is simply not true of the Jews in the death camps, who were sent there PURELY to be tortured and then slaughtered.

  5. Jews have been killed throughout history. We were killed by the millions in WW2, a "Modern historical period". Slaves were also treated poorly and killed but no slave owner had a "quota to meet" of deaths for the day.

    Jews were burned alive in ovens, forced to watch a guillotine blade coming down, used as medical experiemgood ents etc.

    As bad as slavery was and it was awful, the owners needed the slaves, they considered them an investment and property.

    Jews were considered fodder and expendable.

    There is no comparison.

    African Americans are still waiting to be rescued? What? We have an African American running for President. Opportunites are there for everyone and while it may be much harder for blacks, we have tried to even the playing field with opportunties directed at blacks (black only scholarships etc).

    This is comparing apples and orange.

    I lost family in the holocaust. I am betting they would have prefered being a slave over being burned or gassed to death.

  6. I can't even answer this without resorting to name calling of who ever wrote that.

  7. Whoever wrote the passage you posted is not very knowledgeable about the facts of history. Jews were both imprisoned or confined in ghettos previous to and during WWII in Europe. During the war, they were also enslaved in forced labor concentration camps. If they were lucky, it was only forced labor, severe starvation, and medical experiments that they endured. If they weren't lucky or could no longer work, then they were murdered in the gas chambers or beaten or shot to death. Over 6 million were killed in one way or another.

    Africans were sold into slavery with either the cooperation of their tribal leaders, anglo slave traders, or Islamic slave traders or a combination of all three. It was a pretty loose business until the Islamic slave traders organized it into a going concern on the West coast of Africa. Many of the Africans that were kidnapped or sold into slavery died during transport to America. The ones that survived were usually not as mistreated as some historians claim. Why? Because they were expensive to buy and if they weren't healthy and well fed then they couldn't do the hard work they were bought to do. That is not to say that many weren't brutally treated but it was usually for trying to escape or for refusing to work.

    I am most puzzled by the last statement about African Americans still waiting to be rescued. From what? They have the same opportunities that any American has. It is their responsibility to take advantage of those opportunities and excel. Ask any immigrant from Africa today and they will tell you how much America has offered them. Racial bias still exists in America but it exists for Asians, Hispanics, Muslims, and many other groups just as it does for African Americans. In a mixed population like ours, you will never have zero racism.

  8. The Jewish and others imprisoned were actually forced to work in labour camps until they (usually) died.

  9. I'd not discuss that way with anyone.

    I think I'd rather buy him/her a book about the personal experiences of a holocaust survivor, something that describes it really well and in a personal way. I plan on reading Viktor Frankls "A life worth living" some time soon. He talks about his own experiences in concentration camps and if you give him/her the book they'll have a good message with it either.
