Anyone know about the new asault weapons ban?

I know Barak Obama supports a new "asault" weapons ban to keep them from the hands of "terrorists" does any know exactly what kind of wepons would be banned by this legistlation? I have also heard that other congressmen have proposed similar bans, anyone know when they might go into effect?

An assault weapon is classified as any semi-automatic rifle, such as an AR-15, AK-47, UZI, etc.  The Brady ban or pre-ban bill that expired included rifles with bayonet lugs, flash suppressors, hi-cap magazines, folding stocks, barrel shrouds, etc.  The previous law was ridiculous because having any of these parts or accessories did not have anything to do with or affect the operation of the weapon.  In fact, you can be assaulted with any weapon from a standard M1- Garand to a butter knife.  So I can see a broad political label when it comes to "Assault Weapons".  You think that Congress and most politicians would actually study or research a specific topic / issue before passing a law that prevents, restricts, or bans anything!!!!   However, most politicians have no idea about and probably never held or fired a handgun or rifle.  Buy whatever you can now, and don't forget bullets!!!  WATCH THIS VIDEO !!!!!!

Well, looks like the Obama party may not take the White house as easily as the media would make it seem. Seems the more people hear from the "Big O", the less substance and character they see and the more flip-flopping, lying and deceit they see about the man's positions and politics. A lot of people are correctly getting the sense he will say anything to get elected, just like his lying cheating buddy John Edwards. I guess lies don't violate Democratic codes of ethics, if it's for "the greater good...".

Expect anyhing with an AK or AK in the name to get banned.

Anything with a "banana" magazine over 10 rounds

Anyhing with a Bayonet lug (please explain that one!).

Anything black

Anything that may look "evil", whatever that means.

Anything with a VERY DANGEROUS flash hider.

Just look at the laws of the Fascist state of Kalifornia and you will get the idea.

They already have legislation ready to go, jsut as son as they can get a president that will sign it. Dont ever let em tell you they support the second amendment when they sponsor bills that will leave the constitution as written but make it impossible for us as citizens to exercise our rights. The ones i have read pretty much ban anything that isnt a single shot and then it gets some of those too. If it LOOKS like a tactical weapon or has the ability to shoot more than one round without relaoding its in danger. All that stuff you posted up there has come from the diseased minds of gun ban politicians.

Just for the record i agree with you man, just stating that the examples of bans you posted came from some pretty determined sick minds, not yours.

Vangion settle down. Asking for a source is a legitimate question. He phrased it badly, but then considering the rhetoric in some of the responses, I can understand why.

As for this new "assault weapons ban". I haven't been following it since its not been in the news. Having read the bill and its summary I doubt that it would make it through the house and senate regardless of who is elected president unless there's some kind of tragedy where assault weapons were used, like say the North Hollywood Shootout. Even then I don't know that it would survive the Constitutional scrutiny of the Supreme Court.

Assault Weapon Ban = All semi-automatics (hand or rifle)

Sniper Rifle Ban = Bolt action hunting rifles.
