Anyone know any good beach bars in Berlin?

Last year, I travelled to Berlin, Germany for the 2006 Football World Cup. I spent many a drunken night in an inner city beach bar in old east berlin. The bar was set among old, run-down houses however I can't remember the exact name of the district. It was a genuine looking beach bar complete with lit torches, loud music, beach huts, deck chairs and huge graffitti on the side of the adjacent building. A name for this bar would be much appreciated.

  1. ANY CHANCE THIS IS IT

Strandbar am Spree, in Monbijouplatz between Oranien- burgerstr. and Monbijoustr. S-Bahn Hackescher Markt. This bar/café in the middle of the park provides the much sought-after perfect summer atmosphere. Only open during the summer months, it has deckchairs set out and sand to give it the right vibe. A lovely place to while away the summer days.

  2. i don't know the name of this Bar,but i can give you another good one, its the SEEBAD WEISSENSEE its on a lake called WEISSENSEE and there its a great beach Bar you can drink and eat laying on a beach and go swimming ,the have a big terrace too with chairs and umbrellas,i been living there and last year we went everyday over there and had a lot of fun, believe me its great :)its open at 9am and closes when the last guest are leaving :)and the prices are moderate, its in the east side the area is called WEiSSENSEE also, you get from the ALEXANDERPLATZ with the tram there,

    greetings from CA

  3. Look at this site...

    Is this the one?

  4. The name of the bar is Strandbad Mitte (in Berlin/Mitte)!  I used to spend a lot of thime there 5/6 years ago, and I'm glad the place is still open!

  5. A good hint would be if the bar was near the river Spree or not.

However, there are three bars which come to my mind: First is a bar in the backyard of an ex-squat, so the run-down houses would fit, it's the "beach bar" at the Tacheles in the district Berlin-Mitte (Oranienburger Str. /Friedrichstr.) and it had also torches, music and beach huts and graffiti (I think a football player). I think this one fits best.

Two great beach bars at the river Spree are Bar25 and Wild West Strandmarkt, which look like small western villages ( http://www.bar25.de/index.php and http://www.strandmarkt.de/ )
