I was stopped at a stop sign when this car full of 16-17 year olds hit me going about 60; anyone know if I could possibly throw the costs back at the parent who has the car in their name, but no insurance? BTW my liability only covers medical not vehicle damage. Im also in oklahoma. thanks.

  1. If auto insurance is mandatory in Oklahoma, the parents could be arrested it they own the car.

Or you could wait until the kid is 18 and then sue him for the damages.

    Contact an attorney.

  2. The only recourse you have would be to sue the owners of the vehicle and in this case the parents, for additional costs not covered by your insurance.  Speak to a lawyer.

  3. Yes you can and you can also take the owners as well as the drivers to small claims court.

  4. As the 16 yr old is a minor,  the parents can be sued.    As the parents are the vehicle owners,  they can be sued.   Do they have anything worth suing for?    No sense wasting our time if you can't get anything but a snot-nosed kid and mangy dog.

I believe Oklahoma also has liability laws,  and the kid could lose his license,  if he has one.
