Anyone know anything about hormones?

I've been trying to conceive and was curious if anyone could tell me anything about hormones. I've read up a little but still have questions. The ovulation test I use says I had a rise in my hormones on like the 8th or 9th day of my cycle...which has been off lately. My b*****s and have been tender and my lower back has been achy like but it is now the 24th day of my cycle and the test has yet to tell me that I've ovulated. I know this cant be normal. Could it be a malfunction in the test? I feel like I've ovulated or had a hormone surge but am yet not sure.Could it be possible my hormone levels just arent where they should be? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. I don't think there is a test you can take at home that will prove ovulation. The Ovulation Predictor Kits detect LH surge that occurs 24 hours prior ovulation. A doctor can order a blood test (progesterone) and anything over 4 will confirm that ovulation has occured. Those are two diffrent hormones.
