  1. My girlfriend and I spent a few days in Chattanooga about a year ago and it was great.  The aquarium is fantastic and you and your kids could spend the whole day there and never run out of things to do or look at.  As a bundled purchase you can get all day passes to the aquarium, tickets to the Imax 3-D theater, and your kids can play in the hands-on Museum while you and your spouse enjoy a sundae from Ben & Jerry's which is 1 street over.  Then you can walk across the Walnut St bridge to the park on the other side of the river, ride the carousel, and rummage through the shops on the strip.  At night, you can take a horse drawn carriage tour of the downtown area.  All of that plus the Chattanooga Choo-choo museum, amphibious duck tours of the city and river during the day, riverboat cruises for lunch and dinner, Rock City (amazing views), and Ruby Falls (to be honest, the falls were a little disappointing but still nice).  You'll definitely run out of money or time before you run out of things to do :)  Hope this helps ya and enjoy your vacation no matter where you go

  2. well, i would guess it depends on what you want to do....

memphis is for "blues" music...nashville for "country"  if you want to explore more than just the "country" you hear on the radio....or get some good blues history....nashville or memphis.  and of course there is graceland in memphis and the grand old opry in nashville.  neither one of these are interesting to me....who am i to judge.

you could take a cool riverboat ride down the mississippi.  st louis to memphis...or memphis to new orleans....that would mean you get to explore st louis missouri if you started there.  i heard from my dad that the arch  (gateway to the city) is cool and has lots of history.

or you could see the smoky mountains.  bluegrass music, beautiful hills and you could check out nearby ashville north carolina...i heard that there it is an artsy city.....well that might not be for kids....

there is always dollywood.  i hear that it is quite fun and gobs of people go there every year....not my kind of thing tho.

if you google tennessee or go to aaa website and check it out.  i am sure there are guide books like "lonely planet" or "let's go" or "rough guides" that will shed some light.

  3. hang on - let me find a good site for you!

here you go:  this seems to have a little bit of everything

I love Nashville myself, but Dollywood is a lot of fun for kids, too!
