My family and I are visiting Cancun Mexico in January. I was also wondering if anyone has been there and knows any good places to tour or visit. Or if you have anything different on this topic that they would like to share or that could be helpfull please let me know. Also I am trying to find how much Mexicos money (pasos) is to Canadas money.

Thanks!

where you can live a magic mayan way ,

so we organize private tour to chichen itza, xcaret,xe-ha and more , adventure and history

    or visit : www.mayanbeel.com

  2. Your bank can help with the $ exchange.

1 info website AAA travel & other travel agencies have info.

1 info website for flight security by TSA agency.

When take taxi to someplace & driver states he has nothing to do & wants to hang out.  Say no.  My son in Cancun & taxi driver sat at bar with him for one hour (even bought the driver a beer) & after took son back to hotel - - Kept 'meter' running & either pay or he calls the policia.

Super cheap souveneirs.  He had a wonderful time.

  3. You should go visit the open air market. Also the lagoon snorkeling is pretty neat.

  4. There's soooo much to do in Cancún!!!

    Jot down the following list:

    - Chichen Itzá

    - Jungle Tours

    - Sky diving

    - Snorkeling

    - Extreme sports

    - Xcaret

    - Xel-Há

    - Tulum

    - Cozumel

    - Playa del Carmen

    - Cobá

    - Plus all the clubs, bars, restaurants

This does not include the time you can spend in the beautiful beaches they have all over the place. You could practically stay almost whole week just watching the dawn every day and drinking pina coladas until late at nite!

The problem in Cancún is always what to choose from all the things to do.

Mexican currency is called pesos. Exchange rate is practically 10 pesos to 1 Canadian dollar.

Please take into account that generally speaking, Mexico is a very cheap country, nevertheless Cancun and all the Riviera Maya is not. In fact, it can be quite expensive.

Normally they receive anywhere foreign currency, specially USD and Euros (not everywhere Canadian dollars). Almost everywhere you can pay with your card, and in the hotels you can normally always exchange currency.

  5. As far as historic sites, you need to check out the ruins about 45 minutes outside of Cancun.  Besides that, there is a huge market place to wheel and deal at.  don't know if you are drinkers or not, but there is a pretty cool booze cruise where they take you out to an island, give you dinner, and then put on entertainment.  Besides that, its basically beach activities, and grabbing dinner places with some clubs.

  6. I just got back from CANCUN and I LOVED IT!!!!  it is pretty expensive I thought but it is beautiful, mysterious and magical :-)...  There are so many things to do, places to visit and things to see, it really is wonderful... I would definitely recommend going to CHICHEN ITZA, it is truly AMAZING!!! and the experience is worth the prize... chichen Itza is the perfect place to buy all your souvenirs, they are way cheaper than all the other places, the money that the vendors make is for them so you can bargain with them nad get great prices...I would also recommend going to Coba, which are also ruins, however the architecture is very different from th ones from Chichen Itza, after the ruins they take  you to a Mayan village and inside a mayan house hold, which really adds up to the trip and makes it wonderful....Islas mujeres is also a must see, I loved it.. It is a small charming Island, there are also many beautiful souvenirs at decent prices.... Cozumel and playa del Carmen were ok... I did not feel I was in Mexico in either one.. they are very Americanized and expensive.... It is beautiful Howerever I was not impressed with either one...The jungle tour in my opinion was a rip off, I wouldnt recommend it.  And finally you have to go to XCARET it is BEAUTIFUL!!! and their night show is PHENOMINAL!!!!!

Good Luck in your trip I am sure you are going to enjoy it :-)

  7. One of the best places in the world

  8. 1 CAN dollar should buy you around 9-10 MEX pesos.

Cancun itself isn't that great so hopefully you'll get to do some daytrips to Xcaret, Xel-ha (natural reserve / water parks), the Tulum ruins that someone already mentioned (right on the beach), and maybe even go to Playa del Carmen which is a tiny town about 1:30 hour away from Cancun which is very nice and where you can shop a lot too.
