  1. well it depends on how long you are wanting to move there. when i came from the dominican republic all i had to have was a passport and a visa credit card

  2. We get a lot of emails from people like yourself that want to get out of the rat race in the US.  Moving to Costa Rica is fairly simple but living and working here legally is not.  Under Rentista type visa, you are required to have $60k, put it in a bank here and live off $1,000 per month (drawn from this account)  Under this type of visa you can not legally work in Costa Rica.

You can come to Costa Rica on a tourist visa and stay for 90 days.  You can not work under a tourist visa but it will give you a chance to get a feel for the country.  If you like it, you can leave for 72 hours then return for another 90 days.

While the cost of living can be less than it is in the states, it all depends on how you want to live.  If your single and have no children and private schools to worry about living here can be affordable but again, you have to find a way to make money.

Many people come down here and start their own business.  You can't work in it, you must hire locals to work in the business that you create but it is an option for many people.

  3. Walk.

  4. I was thinking of moving there myself. ive heard its cheap to liver there and the whores are hotter then h**l and drugs are everywhere

  5. Allow me to suggest that you plan a visit to Costa Rica for about 90 days which is the limit to their tourist visas.

After that, or before,  if you decide to want to permanently remain in Costa Rica make an application for becoming a "Resident" - with Resident Status - which means that you do not have to move out of the country at the end of the ninety days but can remain there as long as you want.  You can do this though the Costa Rican Embassy there.

You can live like a King for around $600.00 USD a month!

Things there are approximately one third what they cost in America!

Going myself the last week in June!

    VIVA LA PURA VIDA!

  6. Unless you have a skill that is scarce in Costa Rica you must have a source of income to do so legally.  See costaricalaw.com  .   If you have a pension of  $600 or more a month, income from investments or can invest at least $60000 in Costa Rica (amounts vary in terms of type investment), you can aquire legal residency.  Also can be acquired by marrying a Costa Rican.
