Anyone know how long DNA lasts in pet hair?

My pet recently died, and I preserved a part of her hair (with the root). Anyone know how long the DNA would last? I want to make sure there is DNA still present in case pet cloning ever becomes pervasive in the future.

DNA last forever, this is proven by the ability to find relatives of people from mass graves or lost soldiers.

As long as its kept in moderate temperature away from midday sunlight it will last.
