I just got married last month and my husband is in Germany and we are trying to get me over there so we can be together again. I go tomorrow to enroll in DEERS(I have no clue what that is) and was just wondering if anyone could give me a rough estimate of how long it takes.

  1. ok, we went through all this the past two months, because we are moving to germany, but my husband was here in the states so it might be a little bit different.

But after you enroll in deers and get your id card, you will then have to go to tricare and get enrolled there for your medical. Call up there or go by the efmp to make an appointment - you will need to have a copy of his orders, plus its a paper they have to fill out for you - my husband got mine at his levy briefing ( i know its differnet for you since your hubby is already over there ) after you get done with that appointment - depends on how soon you can get that paper and get in there, then they will clear you to go and you have to turn that paper in at levy and they will make you a set of orders. Also go by travel and turn in your paperwork for a passport which can take six to eight weeks depending on the army lol. Once you are done with that, and you get your set of orders - then you will be able to have transportation come and get your stuff to ship over there ( remember you cant take your washer or dryer ) and you can once again go by travel and get your plane ticket.

it all depends on how long it takes - since your husband is already over there i am not really sure because me and my husband are leaving at the same time. If you have anymore questions email me - carolin.arrington@yahoo.com

  2. It just depends. You have to get enrolled in DEERs, get your ID card and clear EFMP. He will have to arrange with transportation to move you. It could take a month, it could takes 6 months-- it just depends on how fast everyone moves, and whether you run into any issues.
