  1. Hi,,, i have been looking into this very question.... depending on what part of Italy you want to live ,,,, the prices vary....

I found a nice older house, 7 hectars of land, and a stone barn,, for around 200k american,,, thats cheap...  but it needs work....

I also found an alread remodled 3 br 2 bath house for around the same price... near Florence...Tuscany,, Thats a Great Price....

Houses and Apartments are expensive,,, but from what I have been told prices change IF you get to know the people selling them,,, (no kidding).....

Look up houses in italy for sale on line... and check out the sites....there are plenty of realtors to look at their houses ....and get a feel for the price.....

    good luck.......

  2. cheaper homes can be found outside the city limits instance  farming towns

  3. It DEFINITELY depends on which part of the country you want to live in.  Probably 75% of Italians live in apartments, not houses.  Houses are a real luxury, and they're priced like a luxury item.  If you wanted to live in a 2BR detached house near Torino, you'd be looking in the range of EUR 600,000.  You would have no public transportation at your disposal, so every driver in the house would require a car.  That price would go down to EUR 400,000 if you wanted to live in a poorer part of the south.  You could get a nice apartment in the city for EUR 200,000.

  4. probably the cost is closer to a medium size in USA but watch out  that is not very nice  europeans pay a lot of taxes  for any single repair more nice more expensive tax......so good luck in your search.
