Anyone know how to get a reasonable price for a hybrid auto? All of them cost more than they save.?

You'd think they would would want to ENCOURAGE people to be green for the planet instead of using it as an excuse to more heavily line their pockets.

The technology has not reached the point where hybrids cost less than they save.  People have to make a choice that is not necessarily optimal to them as an individual in hopes of creating a large enough market to generate economies of scale.  Many people factor the overall environmental impact into their decision to purchase and this can create a market where it costs an individual more than it would otherwise, but costs society overall less.

It's a matter of self-interest vs. species interest.  As species interest rises, non self-interest optimal strategies reach a new equilibrium point in which hybrid auto purchases make sense for a segment of the population.
