Anyone know how to make a cheap basking area?

i have a red ear slider for a long time now he is huge and the pet store basking area dont hold i try useing rock but they keep on falling and there not big so they wont hold my 6 in slider buddy any ideas please something non toxic no paint annd safe maybe i could build something outside the tank but i need to know how

  2. I would say just buy some gravel. They sell gravel that's made of larger rocks so the turtle won't swallow it. That's what I use for my turtles and it works just fine, you just need to build it back up occasionally as it will start to fall down a bit. And buy more gravel than you think you'll need. Also, you can buy little walls that hold the gravel in place.

    Another idea is to just look around the pet store. A lot of fish and reptile decorations also work well as basking areas. My turtles are still small, but they have a little cave like decoration that looks like a pile of rocks and they love to bask on it. Just get creative and try to find a different use of things you have available. Hope I could help!
