Anyone know how to make a mold for a paper mâché project?

I need to make a piñata in the shape of a butterfly, I need something to put the paper mâché on for the body of the butterfly,

I would use cardbaord and masking tape myself. Draw out the way you want your butterfly to look. Then cut it out. Trace it and cut that one out. Now you have the front and back. Then cut a long strip of cardboard and attach it so it goes all along the outside edge of one side. Put all your goodies inside. Then place he other butterfly form on top and tape that in place. You are ready to start paper mache!

I would start with balloons for the center portion of the butterfly.  Perhaps one large, long one or a series of rounder ones taped together.  I would then make wings out of cardboard and tape them to the balloons.  After you have put a layer to two of paper mache on the mold you can pop the balloons in order to have a void in for the filling.  After all the paper mache is done and before you start applying the tissue paper you can cut a flap for the candy and add antennae made of pipe cleaners or what ever else you may have lying about.
