Cosolidate trips to the store, drive slower and smarter, recycle everything, use paper not plastic, but don't tell me to turn down the heat, it costs the same to heat at 62 as it does at 72 for me as I've maxed out the energy savings for my place, but there must be other ways.

  1. put room lights on a motion switch if no one is in the room the light automatically turns off

    walk to the store instead of driving {if possible}

    take subway to work or the bus or car pool

    get involved in a farming CO OP invest in a local farmer that grows food for the homeowner once a week they meet in a local parking lot and deliver fresh produce to the families that have 'invested' in him

    wash with cold water ie Cold Water Tide  works great

    return to sender all junk mail get off junk mail mailing lists saves paper REALLY write return to sender on junk mail scratch off your name  RTS and put back into mail box it cost the company more money if you refuse the letter and it gets sent back you will be off their mailing list really quick

  2. By 'Oil' i presume you mean Fossil Fuel as in 'Crude Oil'

    1.Why not try running your Diesel vehicle on Vegetable Oil? Easy mod to any car (Diesel) and the whole process is in-fact Carbon Neutral.

    2. Install a 'Solar Hot Water Panel' to supply your header tank with free hot water

    3. Look into modifying your existing Gas Boiler so it can be run on WVO (Waste Vegetable Oils i.e. Takeaway Used Oils)

    4. Have your house wall cavities insulated (Plenty of Partially or completely grants to do so available)

    5. Fit TRV's to all radiators in your house (Thermostatically controlled Valves) available from all DIY stores. Set the heat output in each room to the desired level and SAVE money.

    6. Install a Wood Burner in your main room, burning wood is renewable, sustainable and carbon neutral.

    I have many more and many more can be found for free on my website

  3. Don't buy bottled water and purchase organic or locally grown food. Be less of a consumer. Each product you purchase consumed fuel to be shipped.
