  1. Salmonella infection usually occurs in the handling, packaging or transport of food. I compost down fresh manure before putting it on the garden. This should prevent any possibility of contamination.


  2. Check out www.treehugger.com, in there you will find that the tag of Organic is very difficult to get.  It means that whatever touches the end product has to be organic as well.  In my opinion, if your organic vegetable are fertilized with manure, it is most likely NOT tinted with Salmonella.

  3. They can be, just like inorganic fruits/vegetables.  If you wash whatever it is you're eating properly however it's an extremely small risk - Salmonella is on the outside of the vegetable, not the inside.
