Anyone know if the River Poddle is still visible within Dublin's city centre?

I'm revising my Dublin website and seek info on the River Poddle between the Grand Canal and the Liffey. It used to be visible in Blackpitts and near Marrowbone Lane up to the 1980s but I believe these have been culverted. There's a picture of its confluence with the Liffey and some info on my site:

but I want to do further research and take more pictures.

Any relevant information will be acknowledged on the site and you can use my "contacts" page for further details.

  1. you can see  the poddle outlet channel at ushers quay and I believe the poddle runs through kilmainham at murrays pub , bow bridge house, bow lane

  2. Look in Kilmainham, thats as far as Ive seen it go.

  3. A section of about a quarter of a mile is still visible in the grounds of Mount Argus church. Set in the middle of the river is a concrete shape of a boat that we used as kids while playing in the river. A nearby pub still bears the name "The Stoneboat". There used to be another small section visible further down the Kimmage Road which I remember as having some kind of sluice gate on it. Unfortunately someone built a large brick wall obscuring this section. There used to be another visible section at the back of Blarney Park but I suspect this may have been built over. It's some time since I've been there.
