  1. it's really not a good enough picture to determine, a closer pic maybe?

It looks like it could be a tick?

  2. As far as I can tell, it's a tick. You say you live in northern Ontario? Been outside lately? It's definitely tick season. The "pincher thingys" are what they use to burrow into your skin so they can suck your blood (or your puppy, they don't discriminate).

If you find one on your body that has not burrowed into you yet, you can just brush the little guy off. I usually just throw them outside afterwards so they don't get on me again. If it's already burrowed into your skin DO NOT PULL IT OUT!!!! You could leave the legs behind and get an infection. Heat up a needle so that it's sanitary and clean, and use it to "pick out" the tick. This will ensure a clean removal and you won't get infected.

My little puppy has ticks all over her because she likes to run in the bushes :(...I've pulled a few of those little buggers out in my day!

  3. It is very hard to see...but when you said you smushed it...ticks cannot be killed be smushing.   The link I gave gives various ways they can be killed.

I have seen bathroom bugs like that.  I do not know their name, but they are attracted to moisture.

  4. It looks like a tick, bad picture hard to tell.Maybe if you look at some ticks you will know.
