Anyone know if you can get social secuurity or special funding for kids with severe dyslexia?

we are talking severe....like will never be able to read. tutors and aids are putting us in the poor house.

  1. I would very much doubt you would be able to get any social security help for some one with dyslexia. Usually financial aid is awarded for disabilities on 2 criteria, the lack of mobility and the level of extra care a person needs. No matter how severe your dyslexia it would not fall into either category.


  2. You need to have documentation of the disability from a doctor and school records.  Have these handy when you call your local Social Security office.  They may tell you that you need to apply for welfare first, medicaid and such, so, don't be bothered, do it!  If they need you to see a doctor to verify, they will pay.  It is a long, slow process!  Don't get discouraged.  I don't know if you will qualify, but you have to take these steps to find out.  At the least, you may qualify for medicaid to help with the bills.  Good Luck and stick to it!
