I'm attending a wedding that is happening in Indre-et-Loire (aka Touraine), in about a month or so.

What is the most convenient/easiest to arrange method for me to travel to this part of France?

  1. Indre et Loire is a bit vague, some towns are accessible by train, others aren't. There are trains all day between Paris and Tours and that would be the most convenient way. The earlier you book the better, one month ahead is already a bit late to get the cheapest fare of 15 euros/one way but you should be able to go there for 24 € one way.

Then depending on your final destination there might be a local train or a bus or you could take a taxi from Tours or wherever the train takes you. The main transfers are in St-Pierre des Corps and Tours.

Here is the train authority website:

    http://www.tgv-europe.be/en/home/

(if you understand French you'd better book through the original French portal www.voyages-sncf.com which is more comprehensive).

Here are the bus lines in Touraine:

Usually for weddings the bride and groom arrange some form of local transportation. You should ask them what they have planned or if other guests can pick you up at the station or share a car rental with you, etc.

  2. You ought to be able to take a train (I assume you are flying in to Paris, but there are airports closer to the Loire Valley).  check the SN CF website.

or buses.  I have no idea the name of any bus (coach) companies.

  3. Yeah. I know loads.

  4. car , great in the car down there  .

  5. Well the TGV train system is the easyest way and fastest way to get around France its not cheap but if you book before you go it is cheaper.

I am in Uzes at the moment in the South of France.

  6. I live in the Touraine but need to know where you are coming from to recommend the best route.

  7. If you want to go & stay in france then you can visit the site http://www.stayresfrance.com. I hope it must be useful for you.
