Anyone know name of a lake - I think- in Afganistan that lays above ground level - like an above ground pool?

I saw a documentary about a traveler/writer in the 70's who was photogrpahed by this amazing above-ground body of water, was curious as to why it exists geologically... Thanks.

There are a few lakes that are above sea level.  A lot of this happens because of past glaciatian Like Devils Lake in Noth Dakota. http://nd.water.usgs.gov/devilslake/scie...
