Is there a DVD player that shuts off when the movie is over like a VCR does? (i am not up on these things)

  1. I don't think there is because DVD movies usually go back to the main menu when the movie is over.

    Is there really a need for a DVD player to shut off?  It does not hurt the player to go back to the menu and stay there.  The only thing you might be concerned about is if the menu display stayed on your plasma TV for hours.  It might "burn in" on the screen.
