My youngest daughter will be turning 30 in the fall. Myself and oldest are single. We thought we would go and celebrate someplace warm. We live in Oregon and Washington. Of course a budget is in play. So any great online sites and advice? This will be a first for all of us! thanks to all who help!

  1. cruisecritic.com can offer alot of advice but if cost is a factor check out the ports nearest you or atleasr on the west coast. I have done both coast and had a fantastic time with Carnival out of Los Angeles, although they offer shorter ones from San Deigo. You can always call Carnival direct, they have always been very helpful . Have fun whatever you choose, cruising is fantastic

  2. I've been on a couple of Carnival cruises and I found this site to be helpful:

They answered a lot of my questions.  Good Luck!

  3. I know it isn't exactly real warm, but Alaska is the best place to cruise, plus the starting port would not be far for all of you. I know you may be hesitant to go to Alaska instead of say Mexico or the Caribbean, but believe me, everyone that goes to Alaska does not regret it for a minute. Astonishing beautiful state. But if you want to go somewhere this fall, then how about Hawaii. I'm taking the golden princess from La to Hawaii round trip and it is 14 days, a nice long cruise. I know the have not filled up the ship yet, so why not check that out.

  4. I suggest Alaska (like the person above me). I went last month and it was beautiful. I live in Washington and our ship left from Seattle. I went with my mom and sister and we had a great time. The ship I would recommend would be Holland America's MS Oosterdam. That ship is so much fun for all ages and you would not regret it.

  5. Your best bet would be a cruise out of LA or San Diego to the Mexican Rivera.  Those two cities will have the closest ports to you that do cruises to warm climates.  Now occasionally you may find a cruise to Mexico from San Francisco but you will have more options from LA.

Here's a link to the cruise ports in southern California:

Carnival Cruise line uses this port:

The other cruise lines like Princess, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian use this port:(Click on "cruise links" to get to all of the cruise lines)

    http://www.pcsterminals.com/

Each link has a cruise calendar and links to the cruise lines that sail from the ports.  When you go to each cruise line's web site look for a link to "specials" or "hot deals" to get the best prices.

    San Diego cruise port:
