I'd like to go to Japan or a Spanish-speaking country. I'm specifically looking for something that lasts for 2-3 weeks. Thanks for your input!

  1. Contact TESOL (international ESL teaching association) in Alexandria Virginia and ask if they have any recommendations. Also, check with the federal government. They have several short term, summer programs for ESL teachers. Contact the Japanese counsel or government office in Washington DC or New York. Japan is constantly offering programs to get Americans to visit Japan. They probably have one for teachers also.

Check the latest TESOL Conference notes. If I remember correctly, there was at least one facility in Mexico that needed ESL teachers short term. There was also a job fair at the April conference in New York where short term positions may have been offered. I didn't check it this year, so I don't know for sure. TESOL should have a copy of the job opportunities in the conference job fair.

There is also an EFL interest group in TESOL. The main office in Virginia can put  you in touch with the people in charge.

I can't remember the name of the Japanese association of teachers of English. TESOL should know. They can also help you.
