  1. I use extra-lean 96/4 ground sirloin.  It has alot more flavor than ground turkey:)  Brown in regular olive oil.... Leave out the beans, because they're loaded with carbs.  Just add alot of chopped onions, fresh tomatoes & different colored bell peppers.  You can also add finely grated carrots for a natural sweetener and slight thickener.....Lots of fresh cilantro on top when it's done

  2. Just sub lowfat ground turkey breast for the ground beef.  The rest of it *is* already low-fat  and low-cal (spices, beans, masa to thicken, etc.)  And the beans add tons of nutrition and fiber to the dish.

  3. Yes you can use everything as normal but substitute the hamburger for lean ground turkey meat

  4. 1 tablespoon canola oil

    1 pound lean ground turkey

    1/2 red onion, diced

    1 green bell pepper, diced

    4 cloves garlic, minced

    2 teaspoons cumin

    1 teaspoon chili powder

    1 teaspoon cocoa powder

2 shots espresso or 1/2 cup coffee

    1 (14-ounce) can stewed tomatoes

    1 (14-ounce) can beef stock

    1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans

    4 (10-inch) flour tortillas

    1 cup shredded low-fat Cheddar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Heat canola oil in a heavy nonstick saucepan. Add the ground turkey and break it up with the back of a wooden spoon Cook until all pink has disappeared. Pour out any excess grease. Add the onions, bell pepper, garlic, 1 teaspoon of the cumin, the chili powder and cocoa powder. Saute together until the meat and onions are well coated and the onions become slightly translucent. Add the espresso, tomatoes, stock and beans and stir well. Bring to a boil, then lower heat to medium and simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour or until thick.

Slice the tortillas into wedges and arrange onto a cookie sheet. Lightly sprinkle with the remaining cumin and place in oven until tortilla chips have crisped. Serve chili with tortilla chips and top with the Cheddar.

  5. both the answers above r great. another thing u can do is add lots of extra beans (so good for u and add great fiber). if u have a layer of fat on the top, and it's still hot, lay some fresh clean lettuce leaves on the top and they will soak up the grease.  if it is cold from the fridge u can just peel the top layer of fat off it
