Anyone know of a material that absorbs moisture and doesn't release any dust/hairs?

Hi, I'm working on a project for one of my paintings.

I'm basically making a large box where I can store my paintings (where they will dry).

I am cutting holes at the top and bottom of the box to let the air in, but I'm planning on covering the holes with a material to stop any dust/debris/bugs from getting in.

I have to let the paintings 'breathe' inside the box (hence the holes), however, I am now left deciding what material I should use to cover the holes.

I need something that can absorb any moisture evaporating from the paint, but at the same time I need to make sure that the material will not release any dust or hairs (as they would drop down on my wet painting).

What kind of material should I use?

  1. Silica gel.

  2. Best material would be chamois. It absorbs moisture well. If the chamois gets too dry, spray lightly with spray of water.

  3. Grainger.com sells a good ascorbent, renewable by heating it in the oven too.  something with "sorb" in the name...  We've used lots of it.  It's crystals enclosed in tyvek pouches so no dust can leak out.  Changes color when it has reached its capacity of moisture and needs baking out.
